In order to create inventory, it is important to have an Inventory Recieve Flow that is versatile enough to handle the receiving of materials into EZ-MES.

This Receive Flow can consist of one or more steps that are appropriate for your receiving process.  In some cases it may be necessary to go through an Incoming Inspection type process, in which case may require the attachment of documents and additional data entries.  In the example below we will demonstrate a rather simple type of Receive Flow that is a single that includes some data entries as well.

A Receive Flow can be either generic in that it can receive either discrete or non-discrete parts, or it can be specific so that it should only receive certain types of parts.  It is very possible that you may not want all parts to be received via the same receive flow.  If that is the case then you can make additional flows for various parts and use the Input/Output combinations to allow those parts to go through the flow.

In addition to making this Flow Definition, you may want to add configuration to the Part Defintion to set it as the default Flow for Inventory Receiving.

Step Definition

Create a new Step Definition with the following configuration.

  • Name: Receive Inventory
  • Operation Number: SD0001 (This could vary for you)
  • Revision: A

Add Name-Values to the Step Definition you just created.

  • Unique ID: UID
    • You can choose an appropriate syntax for your internal part serial number.  View the Unique ID Syntax help page for additional help.
  • Text: Supplier SN
    • This entry can be used if you want to record a Supplier Serial Number.  You can also add another entry to record the Supplier Lot Number.
    • No additional configuration needed.
  • Date: Exp. Date
    • You may be able to use this type of entry to record expiration dates on certain products such as epoxies or chemicals.
    • No additional configuration needed.
  • Text: Comments
    • The comment field can be used for any additional comments the operator may have during receiving parts.
    • No additional configuration needed.

Flow Definition

Create a new Flow Definition with the following configuration.

  • Name: Receive Inventory
  • Flow Definition Number: FD00001
  • Revision: A
  • Flow Definition Type: Make Part
  • Part State when Active: WIP
  • Part State when Done: RMI

Now you can add the Step Definition you created earlier to this new Flow Definition and the configuration will be complete.
