EZ-MES supports barcodes in a number of ways: to scan unique ID's to open specific forms, to enter data for data entries, on reports, and your own configurable barcode labels.
Printing your own Barcodes
To print your own barcode labels we recommend to buy a special barcode printer. In case you would like to use a word processer, you can install a special barcode font. We use Code 39 barcodes and the following link will give you access to a free Code 39 font: BarcodesInc
Tips for Using the Barcode Font
- Be sure to add an asterisk * character before and after your text. Example *YOURTEXTHERE*
- Microsoft Word may adjust the character spacing and make the barcode unreadable. You may have more luck with Wordpad, found in the Windows Start Menu under Programs > Accessories.
Configure your own Barcode Labels
Step By Step Guide to Implement Barcodes
Within EZ-MES you are able to configure your own designed Barcode Labels. These Barcode Labels can be specific for Part Defintition, or be made special for specific Step Definitions. The Step Definition Barcode Labels can be printed at the moment a Traveler moves through that specific operation.
Barcode Labels can be printed from either the Part Record Form or from the Traveler Form. From the Traveler Form a batch print option for all part on the Traveler is available as well.
