It is possible to display a Menu Item for a newly created User Group.  This example will show you how to do so with a new 'Limited Desktop' User Group, in which we only want to display the 'All Parts' listbox to.

Create the New User Group

You will first need to Create a New User Group.  This will be the User Group that has a limited desktop viewing experience.  We will limit this group to only have a 'All Part' Listbox when they log in.

  • Group Name: Limited Desktop
  • Add User: User
  • Move to Active Status

Assign Group Privileges to Menu Item

We will now have to open each Menu Item that previously allowed for the 'User' User Group to view.  Within the 'Execution' Menu Group, you will find the following Menu Items by default configuration:

  • Active Traveler Listbox [FRViewActNowList]
  • Active Parts Listbox [PRListActive]
  • Documents Listbox [DCIListFiltered]

Optionally you could also change the Barcode Menu Item [ScanInput] Item which is located in the 'Log Out' Menu Group.

Add / Remove Groups

As we open each Menu Item, we will first remove the 'User' Group and then add the new Group 'Limited Desktop'.

Scroll down to the 'Access Rights User Group' section of the Menu Item form.

Remove Group

Scroll down to the 'Access Rights User Group' section of the Menu Item form.  Now, select 'User' from the Remove Group pulldown.  This removes the Group from the Allowed Groups.

RemoveUserGroup

Add Group

Scroll down to the 'Access Rights User Group' section of the Menu Item form.  Now, select 'Limited Desktop' from the Add Group pulldown.  This adds the Group to the Allowed Groups.

AddGroupToMenuItem

If you havent already done this for all Menu Items that contain the 'User' group then please do so now.
