EZ MES can be easily configured to control user access down to individual steps in your manufacturing process flows. In this User Group example we have a simple three step process:

  • Step 1 - Process Part (User 1: Vic Supervisor)
  • Step 2 - Test Part (User 2: ZMills Operator)
  • Step 3 - Package Part (User 3: DMcMillan Operator)

We will configure EZ MES to assign access for 3 individual users to 3 individual Step Definitions i.e one step assigned to only one user. The first user in the Flow Definitions on Step 1 will be granted Traveler initiatation rights to start the manufacturing process without having active travelers already configured in the system while the other two users will have limited access to the system as operators.

First we open the Application and User Settings Menu, then click the Open User Management button, select the View User Groups Tab and click the Make User Group button.

Now create and name the Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3 User Groups. Assign the User Rights for User1, User2 and User 3 for each User Group as detailed above.

User_Group_2

We have completed the first stage of Changing User Rights and to complete the procedure we must now assign the User Groups to the specific Step Definitions.

User_Group_4

User_Group_5

Select allowed User Group to assign to Step Definition and select allowed users to assign to the User Group.

User_Group_6

Repeat for the procedure for Step 2 and Step 3.

  • Step 1 - Process Part (User 1: Vic Supervisor) * Completed as shown above
  • Step 2 - Test Part (User 2: ZMills Operator)
  • Step 3 - Package Part (User 3: DMcMillan Operator)

Note: The system will remove access to anyone who does not have Access Rights to the Step Definition so be sure to assign User Rights to the Administrator or your own user ID or else you won't be able to see all the Step Definitions.

Alternative User Rights Assignment Method

An alternative User Access assignment method is by using the Application and User Settings. This method also provides better oversight of all the User Groups configured for the system, this will be more useful if configuring dozens of Step Definitions.

Select the Application and User Settings icon, click Open User Management button, select the User to assign access rights to and then pick from the Role Data list which user groups access is to be granted.

User_Group_7

Repeat for the procedure for Step 2 and Step 3.

  • Step 1 - Process Part (User 1: Vic Supervisor) * Completed as shown above
  • Step 2 - Test Part (User 2: ZMills Operator)
  • Step 3 - Package Part (User 3: DMcMillan Operator)

Note: The system will remove access to anyone who does not have Access Rights to the Step Definition so be sure to assign User Rights to the Administrator or your own user ID or else you won't be able to see all the Step Definitions.

In the same way, access rights can be set to Part Definitions, Flow Definitions, Documents, and Name Value Pairs
